Francesco Belviso, PhD, PsyD

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who works to create a warm, engaging, and supportive space where people can navigate life transitions, strengthen their relationships, and move through emotional distress. With over fifteen years of experience, I work with individuals facing anxiety, depression, and grief, as well as couples moving through periods of transition or conflict. As I address what feels most pressing, I also help clients develop deeper insight into the hopes, fears, and inner experiences shaping their lives so they can make lasting, meaningful change.

Born in Italy, I came to the United States in my twenties to pursue a Ph.D. in Economics at Princeton University, collaborating with scholars at the University of Chicago and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Later, volunteering in a hospital with terminally ill patients profoundly reshaped my understanding of human connection and purpose. These encounters ultimately led me to reevaluate my values and calling, and to pursue a career as a psychologist. Today, I provide therapy to many people in academia, alongside professionals, new parents, and those navigating the transitions of later life.

Beyond my psychotherapy practice, I have led workshops on deepening romantic relationships, cultivating personal fulfillment, and exploring Jungian psychology. I have also trained students at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in self-care and mindfulness. As an educator, I have taught psychology doctoral courses and currently provide clinical consultation and supervision from a relational, Jungian lens, supporting early-career therapists in cultivating an authentic therapeutic voice.

Office of Francesco Belviso

"I have frequently seen people become neurotic when they content themselves with inadequate or wrong answers to the questions of life. They seek position, marriage, reputation, outward success or money, and remain unhappy and neurotic even when they have attained what they were seeking. Such people are usually confined within too narrow a spiritual horizon. Their life has not sufficient content, sufficient meaning. If they are enabled to develop into more spacious personalities, the neurosis generally disappears."

Jungian Reflections on Grandiosity: From Destructive Fantasies to Passions and Purpose

Dr. Belviso's book, published by Routledge, presents a dual view of grandiosity as a destructive obsession that, when approached with curiosity and awareness, has the potential of fueling our lives with a sense of purpose, while being a positive force in the world.
